Family Support services
As a Child and Family Therapist Khia often receives requests for services on how to assist parents, caregivers, and other loved ones on how best to support them.
Have a child or teen that is suicidal or struggling with behavior issues and you're not sure what else you can do?
Have another loved one struggling with grief or mental illness that you can't convince to receive services for themselves and you want to know how to help?
My speciality in my Graduate Degree (USC, 2016) was Children and Families and it is very near and dear to my heart.
I've always been very passionate about children being heard, parents giving more grace and taking more time for teachable moments. I believe that the ways that you react to children now has a major impact on how they "adult".
So, our new Family Support service serves three main purposes:
Give parents and loved ones a safe space to vent, decompress about stressors they may feel ashamed to share in other spaces
Educate parents and loved ones on mental health and how they can be of more support to their family members
Provide parents and loved ones with additional tools to enhance their relationship with their child, discipline techniques, and supportive strategies.
