Gracefully Broken

Updated: Dec 24, 2018

This post was inspired by the song Gracefully Broken by Tasha Cobbs-Leonard from her most recent release, Heart. Passion. Pursuit.

When I initially heard the words "gracefully broken" it really amazed me and gave me yet another perspective of God's love and grace and kind heart. We hear often that God breaks us to build us and how much stronger we will be after the storm but I have never thought about Him breaking us gracefully.

It is true that sometimes God has to completely break us down in order to build us back to where He always intended for us to be. It is a painful process and we try to avoid it often times, but just look at what God showed me. God doesn't want to have to break us any more than we want to be broken. He doesn't want to see us hurting. He is the one who hears us when we are alone crying and wondering why certain things are happening.

"Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear". - - Isaiah 65:24

But He knows that the breaking has to happen. And even during the breaking He does it gracefully. It makes me smile just thinking about it. We fail Him and we put all of this extra trash into ourselves then when He breaks it away, instead of being angry like, "I told you not to get into that", He carefully rips it away from us because He loves us so much. He knows how much it hurts us, especially those things we know we need to let go of but don't want to. While your friends and family are talking down on you and being careless about your feelings because of decisions you've made God is still caring. *insert shout*!!!!!!! My God! He loves us so much!

"Yes, you will suffer for a short time. But after that, God will make everything right. He will make you strong He will support you and keep you from failing. He is the God who gives all grace. He chose you to share in his glory in Christ. That glory will continue forever." - - 1 Peter 5:10

Our struggles are no surprise to Him and neither is how much it hurts. He loves us so much that He even cares about how we feel when He is taking those bad things, that are toxic for us, away! I know I already said that but every time I think about it, it amazes me even more. If it were up to my family and they had an option I know that some of the things I have gotten attached to me they would rip it like a band-aid. Not that they want me to hurt but they are simply not as graceful as God. I am so glad that God cares about me in EVERY state I find myself in. I think that is how Paul was able to be content in whatever state he was in (Philippians 4:11), because he knew that God was gonna take care of him just the same no matter what.

"He heals their broken hearts and bandages their wounds." - - Psalms 147:3, ERV

The song goes on to say "I open my arms to you". In order for God to break us we have to be open to the process. Because He is so graceful he does not force us to do what we are not willing to do. Every now and then He will kind of exert a little more power cuz He knows that you know better but He still gives us choice".

I have inserted the song (I do not own the rights to this music) and I hope that you will take some time to just let the Holy Spirit speak to you.
